Supply chain emissions quantification and SBTi submission support
Summary
Scottish Leather Group (SLG) is an established circular economy leader in the global leather industry. The Group is committed to offering the world’s lowest carbon leather, made possible through a process of continual innovation and sharing of good practice. Their goal is to ensure the most sustainable, luxury leather available to their automotive, marine, aviation and mass transit manufacturing clients.
Scope
JRP Solutions (JRP) was appointed by SLG in to help them respond to SBTi requirements for quantifying the Group’s supply chain emissions. Good evidence for quantifying scopes 1 and 2 emissions had already been submitted, but SLG had not fully applied the Greenhouse Gas Protocol’s (GHP’s) 15 categories for scope 3 emissions. Because time was limited to provide a full response, JRP used a spend-based methodology for quantifying these emissions, but using actual data for water, waste and upstream logistics.
Results
JRP’s technical GHGP and product life-cycle assessment (LCA) support to SLG was critical to the Group’s successful re-submission and award of SBTs for all three scopes.
SLG’s SBT Scope 3 FLAG GHG emissions target is to achieve a 48.5% reduction from a FY2018 base year (including FLAG emissions and removals).
