Every organisation is at a different stage of their journey and has different needs, so training sessions will be designed specifically to be relevant to your individual organisation’s current level of activity, culture and progress to date.

Why Net Zero training and behaviour change works

We have been delivering sustainability, energy, and behaviour change programmes to organisations large and small for many years, helping embed lasting cultural change and delivering measurable environmental and operational improvements.

Behaviour change can play a critical role in achieving Net Zero objectives by empowering people across the organisation to understand their impact, identify opportunities, and actively contribute to emissions reduction efforts. When sustainability becomes part of everyday decision-making, improvements are more likely to be sustained over the long term.

Delivering lasting results

We help organisations create meaningful behaviour change that drives measurable reductions in energy use, waste, and carbon emissions while building a culture of sustainability.

  • Greater engagement with Net Zero and sustainability goals
  • Reduced energy use, waste, and carbon emissions
  • Improved operational efficiency and cost savings
  • Stronger ownership and accountability across teams
  • A workforce actively contributing to long-term environmental performance

Energy training

For most businesses, the majority of emissions arise in the upstream supply chain outside the direct control of the business. This means that procurement and supplier management play a large part in reducing the emissions footprint. This training will help you:

  • Identify the key sources of emissions in your supply chain
  • Understand sectoral emissions reduction challenges and relevant of hard to decarbonise sectors for your business
  • Understand the importance of supply chain geography on emissions reduction
  • Engage with suppliers about their emissions and reduction objectives
  • Inform future procurement (and where relevant product design) to manage down emissions
  • Set and monitor realistic scope 3 emissions targets informed by supply chain expectations

Who is this programme for: Management with procurement responsibility, procurement teams, product/service design leads, anyone responsible for managing key supplier relationships.

Duration: 6-8 hours (either a full day or 2 half day sessions is recommended)

Deliverables: This is a practical module that will equip relevant staff to develop and manage a practical approach to emissions arising in the supply chain (primarily scope 3, category 1 & 2).

A successful Net Zero strategy involves a holistic organisational approach and should be embedded in all organisational strategy. This is well suited to an organisation that has already completed an initial baseline carbon footprint and wants to develop a reduction strategy. Topics will include:

  • Organisation mission/vision/values – where does carbon fit in?
  • Net Zero gap analysis – where are you now, where should you be?
  • Policies – embedding principles in internal compliance
  • Procedures/processes – practical changes for emissions management
  • Monitoring and target setting – what do you need to measure, how often and what does it tell you?

Who is this programme for: the senior leadership team in any organisation. This is a good follow on to the Introduction to Net Zero and can be delivered as a full day programme.

Duration: 4 hours

Deliverables: Delegates will be able to develop a high level strategic Net Zero approach for their organisation.

To achieve Net Zero and improve the overall sustainability impacts of the business, the culture and behaviours of an organisation need to change to ensure that engagement, awareness and commitment is fully enabled and maintained. We recommend a “boardroom to broom cupboard” approach that involves all parts of the business in the Net Zero journey, appropriate to their role.

  • Engaging senior directors to ensure top-level buy-in
  • Creating a Net Zero roles and responsibilities structure
  • Exploring how day to day actions at all levels of the business contribute to meeting (or missing) emissions or environmental targets
  • Creating and delivering a Net Zero/sustainability communications programme
  • Meeting people where they are and keeping it relevant
  • Creating and monitoring a behaviour change programme

Who is this programme for: the senior leadership team in any organisation, board members and key stakeholders.

Duration: 6-8 hours

Deliverables: Delegates will understand what is required to achieve and maintain full engagement throughout their organisation and will have drafted an action plan.

Carbon offsetting played a big part in early “carbon neutral” claims, but can divert funds away from making changes within the business that lead to overall emissions reduction. In this session we explore the different ways that available funds can be deployed to address a business’ emissions footprint, including considerations for capital projects, insetting and offsetting. Topics will include:

  • What matters to you and your customers? – emissions reduction in practice vs carbon neutral declarations
  • Investing in the business – how to plan and assess operational decarbonisation projects
  • Investing in value chain decarbonisation – insetting
  • Offsetting unavoidable emissions – when, why and how much?
  • The rules of insetting & offsetting – how do you know it is a valid emissions reduction/avoidance
  • Aligning with your organisational values/mission statement – finding insetting/offsetting projects that fit with your activities, geography and values
  • Carbon verification/assurance

Who is this programme for: the senior leadership team in any organisation.

Duration: 4 hours

Deliverables: Delegates will explore practical decision making around deploying the business’ money to impact emissions. Where are the priorities for internal investment, what are the opportunities for insetting to impact scope 3 emissions, and where carbon offsetting is likely to fit in their Net Zero strategy.

JRP have been instrumental in helping us to reduce our energy consumption and costs during a challenging period of organisational change and growth. Professional, reliable and easy to work with.

Steven Buchan, Estates Manager | Circle Health

Working with JRP Solutions transformed our energy management journey. Their expertise and tailored support for ISO 50001 and a behavioural change programme brought real clarity and momentum. We now have a robust framework and engaged team driving down energy use. Thank you to the JRP team for their expertise, commitment, and support throughout.

Ian Goldsworthy, Energy and Carbon Reduction Manager | Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council (MTCBC)

JRP understand the support they are asked to give and deliver on time, budget and in a clear concise professional manner. If only everyone was a reliable as JRP!

Jonathan Blair, Technical Advisor | Westons Cider

We are using JRP’s ‘Be Energy’ eLearning awareness course to help us fully meet the ISO 50001 standard. This course is not only getting good feedback from our staff but the external ISO 50001 auditor completed the course and commented that it was ‘the best energy training course that he had seen’. A feather in the cap for JRP.

David Rose, Energy and Carbon Manager | South West Water

JRP were easy to work with and their pragmatic approach to the project was critical to the development of the submission and validation of our SBTs.

Kate Gallacher, Sustainability Officer | Scottish Leather Group

I have been very impressed by the quality of JRP’s work for the University of Oxford, right from the start. All the energy survey reports have been of high quality and tailored to our specific requirements. Many of the recommendations were not identified in previous surveys. JRP is not afraid to ask difficult questions and challenge the status quo. I have worked with and for energy consultancies for more than 20 years and the quality of JRP’s work is some of the best I have seen.

Philip Pike, Energy Manager | University of Oxford

From the outset, JRP provided a clear direction to us. It was beneficial to gain insight from the non-vehicle manufacturing sector and expert knowledge of the FM sector in particular. Throughout the process, JRP has been a guiding hand but who has also listened to our concerns and questions and provided patient answers to our many questions.

Christine Cooke, Senior Manager | Toyota Motor Manufacturing

We have achieved over 20% energy savings over the last 12 months and no doubt the training was a contributing factor towards this. I am sure that people are much more energy aware than they were before the training and I would recommend anyone who hasn’t done this sort of training to seriously consider it.

Andrew Smith, Property and Energy Manager | Numatic International

The skill and knowledge that was brought to bear demonstrated a level of sure-footedness that was reassuring. The breadth and quality of the work delivered was exactly what we required.

Ola Bankole, Head of Sustainability | London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine

JRP delivered a comprehensive suite of audits that has really helped to us to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs across our sites. The opportunities identified were used as a platform to enhance our decarbonisation strategy, providing transparency on the technologies available now. JRP’s consultants were friendly, knowledgeable and professional at all times.
