The scheme will be open on Wednesday 17 April to Wednesday 1 May 2024 to provide funding to help decarbonise public sector buildings in England and reduce energy consumption.

Phase 5 of the Salix operated Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund (LCSF) will provide consultancy grants for:

  • Stage 1 Strategy: Produce or update comprehensive decarbonisation strategies.
  • Stage 2 Feasibility: Audits, surveys and feasibility studies.
  • Stage 3 Design: Specialist surveys, investment grade audits and detailed designs.

Salix have responded to criticism by making the application process fairer as follows:

The application portal will be open for two weeks and applications randomised to avoid favouring early applicants.

Three funding ranges are provided to avoid a small number of large applications exhausting a large proportion of the available £16M budget.

We have been providing such services for over 30 years and supported clients for all grant and loan schemes ever run by Salix. I will be delighted to provide a costed proposal for your grant application.

We recently completed a comprehensive decarbonisation plan for Canterbury Christ Church University and another for Kingston University identified 39% carbon saving opportunities to reduce the capital and running costs of replacement technologies.

William Begg, Energy Manager commented as follows:

“They undertook the study in a pro-active and efficient manner. At the inception of the project they made sure that our requirements were fully understood; it was clear that they had a firm grasp of our objectives and desired outcomes. Their expertise and knowledge was evident throughout the study – I wouldn’t hesitate to invite them for future work or recommend to other institutes.”
