Edie 24 unites businesses and sustainability leaders for two immersive days of strategy, implementation and collaboration to achieve the transformations required.
Join Carol Somper on 20th March as she hosts a workshop on preparing your business for the changes to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, which will affect approximately 50,000 companies in 2024. The first companies will have to apply the new rules from as early as 2025, for financial years beginning on or after 1 January 2024.
The CSRD aligns sustainability with financial reporting, making large companies disclose both their business’s impact on sustainability and its effects on people and the planet - a unique principle called ‘double materiality.’ This new regulation updates previous corporate sustainability reporting under the Non-Finanacial Reporting Directive (NFRD). One of the central pillars of the CSRD is the requirement for in-scope companies to produce disclosures in accordance with the European Union Emissions Trading System (ESRS). The directive will also make it mandatory for reported sustainability information to be assured. Companies will need to provide information that is: qualitative and quantitative, forward-looking and retrospective, and based in the short, medium, and long-term. All covering environmental matters e.g. SBTs, EU Taxonomy, climate risk-related reporting, social matters, human rights etc. The UK is planning to set up its own version.
